Maya Angelou once wrote, “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” This perspective is at the core of the therapeutic process, and central to the work I do with my clients. Together, we work to better understand the challenges faced in their unique, personal journeys, and in so doing, facilitate healing and growth. I am a licensed psychologist with extensive experience in addressing such concerns as depression, anxiety, early childhood and adult trauma exposure, PTSD, impaired self-worth, and relationship challenges.
As a culturally-responsive psychologist, I focus on the critical role that individual identity (such as racial, ethnic, gender, or sexual identity) can play in overall well-being. I am a veteran of the United States Navy and completed a clinical psychology residency within the Division of Adult Mental Health at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
I am a graduate of Morehouse College, completed master’s level training in clinical psychology and cross-cultural psychology at Columbia University and Cornell University, respectively, and completed my doctoral training in counseling psychology at Boston College.
