As a licensed psychologist, I provide individual therapy for a range of concerns, including relationship stress, life transitions, depression, anxiety, parentification, and trauma. I work from a stance of openness and sincerity and strive to create a comfortable, collaborative environment in which clients feel understood and supported. My therapeutic style is flexible and tailored to each client’s unique concerns and lived experience. My approach is integrative and draws from psychodynamic theory, emotion-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based practices, sensorimotor psychotherapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am EMDR trained and incorporate EMDR thoughtfully when clinically appropriate. I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The George Washington University, completed my APA-approved internship at Harvard Medical School, and fulfilled my postdoctoral fellowship at Tufts University. I have over 18 years of clinical experience working with adults across a range of settings. Previously, I served as Assistant Director of Counseling at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and as a staff psychologist at Tufts University’s Counseling and Mental Health Services in Medford, Massachusetts. I have also worked as a clinician and researcher at UC San Diego Medical Center, including within an Early Psychosis Treatment Center. Having immigrated from Argentina as a child, I am bicultural and bilingual in English and Spanish.
I provide highly specialized, action-oriented, individualized psychological treatment based on your goals and challenges. I maintain a small caseload so I can provide the highest quality evidence-based treatment within the framework of a client-centered and recovery-oriented approach. I specialize in treating: depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, psychosis, and serious mental health challenges. I completed my postdoctoral fellowship at the Aaron T. Beck Psychopathology Research Center within the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. I have advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I worked with and received supervision from Dr. Aaron Beck one of the creators of CBT and CT-R. I am also faculty at The Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy.

Using a supportive, insight-oriented approach, we explore your strengths, values, and goals so you can feel more confident and create a college experience that feels like your own.

We focus on practical tools, honest conversations, and building insight so you can feel more steady, confident, and clear about your next steps. College can be exciting, overwhelming, and everything in between. It’s a time of big changes, big questions, and a lot of pressure—about who you are, where you belong, and whether you’re doing “enough.” I work with college students who are navigating anxiety, body image struggles, perfectionism, and that nagging feeling of not measuring up, even when everything seems fine on the outside. If you’re feeling stuck, anxious, or just off, therapy can be a space to slow down and figure out what’s really going on. Together, we’ll explore what matters to you and what helps you feel more like you. My approach is warm, supportive, and down-to-earth. Whether you’re on campus or away, we’ll work together to help you feel more confident, grounded, and connected—both to yourself and the life you’re building.

I am Jamula (Jamalah) Taylor; a woman, a mother, and a therapist. I became a therapist to help people who look like me to be okay with being vulnerable and to support their healing. I am a member of Growth and Change Counseling. We understand that our mental health conditions are related to the break down in our relationships and that we can’t simply make depression, anxiety, or other problems go away by simply treating the symptoms. We have to get down to the roots of the problems in order to help people effectively heal. There is no problem I am not willing and able to face with you. Call me, it starts with a conversation!
My clients tend to be artists, musicians, designers, and creative people experiencing relationship issues, anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, doubts, or self-criticism. I help clients see the patterns in their relationships and in their lives, so that they feel more grounded and empowered to achieve their creative and professional visions. I use evidence-based approaches in the treatment of trauma and OCD.
Today you are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being. If you are looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you are just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. Hello, my name is Jose Quiroz-Novela, and at the core of my work is the belief that healing happens in safe, affirming, and collaborative relationships. We treat a range of concerns, and are available to work with you in many languages. It is important to us that you feel like you can be understood, on every level. Apart from psychotherapy for individuals and couples presenting with a wide range of concerns, we conduct psychoeducational assessments of ADHD, ASD and other learning disabilities and for test accommodations. We have several skilled and experienced multiethnic therapists available in both Beverly Hills and DTLA. We understand that feeling understood on every level is critical to being able to make progress in therapy and are committed to an anti-racist, fully inclusive perspective to psychotherapy.

Young adulthood is a time of growth, self-discovery, and life transitions. Whether you're in college, starting your career, or navigating relationships, therapy can provide guidance and tools for coping. Together we can discuss things such as relationship difficulties, values, identity, coping with anxiety or depression, body image struggles, connection to oneself and others, and patterns you are maybe starting to notice as you grow. My goal as a young adult therapist, which is similar to that of a teen therapist, is to create a safe relationship for exploration. A place where you can show up without preparation and as exactly who you are.
I am a registered associate marriage and family therapist and associate professional clinical counselor who offers in in person (Los Angeles) and virtual psychotherapy (California). I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults navigating eating disorders and their underlying emotional experiences, as well as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, identity and sexuality exploration, life stressors and transitions, acculturation, neurodivergence, and self-esteem. College can be an overwhelming time, but you don't have to be all alone. Through collaboration and support, I aim to create a warm, supportive space for clients to take a moment for themselves, explore their experiences, and deepen self-understanding. My practice is specifically tailored to each client's needs and goals. I utilize trauma-aware, systemic perspectives with skill-based teachings of CBT and DBT. My approach to psychotherapy is grounded in 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming care.
We specialize in emerging adulthood because this developmental stage requires specific clinical expertise. You're constructing an adult identity, which means the strategies that worked in your family or in school often need updating. The ways you learned to get love, stay safe, or earn approval show up in adult relationships and sometimes constrain you in ways you can see but can't shift alone. Our therapists work psychodynamically to help you understand patterns you didn't consciously choose. We use EMDR to process past experiences that still shape your present, teach DBT skills for managing intense emotions, and apply attachment theory to understand how early relationships become blueprints for later ones. We understand the psychological tasks specific to this stage: becoming your own person while maintaining meaningful relationships, building intimacy based on reality rather than fantasy, tolerating the uncertainty inherent in creating an adult life, and developing a sense of self that can hold complexity. The therapeutic relationship becomes a space where patterns can surface, be examined, and eventually change. You get to practice being yourself without the adaptations you've relied on to get by.
