Therapists for college students near Los Angeles, CA
**I offer Telehealth** *Sliding scale based on income** Hi! My name is Jill Pittman and I am an alumni of SCU (undergrad & grad). Therapy Sucks. It’s time-consuming, uncomfortable, and to some, it feels like a sign of weakness. Who wants to show their ugly scary part to a stranger? The reality is – if you are seeking out therapy, it means that you are strong enough and brave enough to be willing to admit that we could all use some help navigating through painful or confusing times. It is a basic human need to have other humans witness our pain, problems, joys, and successes. I'm real. I'm approachable. I may or may not have a potty mouth. And I don't think therapy should be some stale, clinical, sterile experience. In our sessions, I'll show you how to be vulnerable and genuine by being that way myself. Let me be real with you, so you can be real with me. I'll laugh at your jokes if you will laugh at mine. I might even drop some f-bombs if you are lucky. You can even show me your favorite cat video(s) or we can listen to your favorite song. I welcome diversity including all body sizes, races, sexual orientations, gender identities, religions, sexual preferences, and especially those who may feel less welcome or accepted in other settings. I am LGBTQIA affirming, Kink Aware, and Poly Friendly. Call me today to discuss how I can be a support to you.
Have you or a loved one struggled with drug or alcohol dependency? Allow me to help you on your journey to recovery. At Life Steps Consulting, we know that life is full of different transitions, which can be broken down into a series of steps. When you are struggling with substance abuse, movement through the transitional steps halts, causing you to fall into unhealthy life cycles, which impact your career goals, relationships, physical and mental health. I can help you get back on track. I not only have studied the disease of alcohol and drug addiction, but I have been there and I know how you feel

We work on coping skills amid chaos and pain. We work on thriving in life, relationships, and business. I work with people short-term, or long-term. It depends on your desires and needs. I am a psychologist based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I have spent the past 10 years working with folks who are excited and curious about how they can learn to best care for themselves. In general, I tend work with clients who are looking for support around their career goals, including transitioning out of or into a career, finding a better work-school-life balance, establishing or refreshing professional skills/communication, or navigating the experience of college/career integration. I have a particular passion for working with clients in "helping" industries or in training, including healthcare, healthcare administration, mental health, and teaching. I also work regularly with clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, and other mood regulation concerns. I have experience working with students, especially as they are exploring the next phase of their life. Transitions are sometimes moments of great growth and self-discovery, and often accompanied by great pain and confusion. I think addressing both side of the coin honestly and with support can help us navigate the tough stuff with a sense of clarity and hope. I currently work in a private practice clinic, and provide talk-therapy from a variety of clinical orientations. I usually go for a somewhat down-to-Earth approach when first working with someone: taking the time to learn more about what is and isn't working in their lives, thinking collaboratively with them about what some attainable long-term goals might look like, and then allowing us to settle into the process of engaging and tracking areas of growth as our work develops. Therapy is such a unique and personal process. This should work with and for you, even if it's not always easy. I'm open to meeting you and learning more...even if we aren't a great fit. I'm also happy to support your process in finding that next-right-one. I do my best to respond to voicemails and emails within 24 hours during the work week, and follow-up on all weekend inquiries by end of business on Mondays.
Black Lives Matter. I will listen to you, get to know you as a person, identify strengths, build self- awareness, and create a safe environment where positive change happens. I like to view therapy as a puzzle, we have some missing pieces, we have some broken pieces, and we have some whole pieces, lets work together to put the puzzle back together. My background is in treating, but not limited to: anxiety, attachment issues, trauma, emotional regulation, grief/loss and women’s issues. My office is a safe place where all are accepted and treated with compassion. Some of the treatment modalities I practice include: trauma informed, CBT, play therapy, attachment based, mindfulness, and solution focused

Welcome to my page! My approach is flexible and depends on your needs, values, and goals. I work best with clients who want a warm, compassionate, and direct space to process their experiences, challenge unhelpful patterns, and build practical skills for everyday life and relationships. I strive to create a comfortable space where authenticity (yours and mine) is central. I'll always come to session with warmth, curiosity, and a little silliness. My work is rooted in relationships, community, and attachment. I blend mindfulness, creative approaches, and evidence-based talk therapies to support clients navigating political stress, sadness and worry, identity exploration, relationships, life transitions, and feelings of disconnection or burnout. I especially enjoy working with young adults to strengthen communication skills, build confidence, and reconnect with themselves and others during periods of change and uncertainty. Everyone deserves to experience more of the good things in life and less of the bad. Individual and collective healing is a radical act toward experiencing and creating more of life's good things. Together, we’ll build on your strengths, explore what matters most to you, and work toward creating more ease, connection, and meaning in your life. If this sounds like a good fit, I’d love to connect.
College can be exciting and full of new experiences, but it can also bring a lot of pressure. Between academics, relationships, and figuring out your future, it is easy to feel stressed, anxious, or unsure of yourself. Therapy offers a chance to slow down, reflect, and work through whatever feels heavy right now. My approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally aware. I focus on helping students manage stress, anxiety, and relationship challenges while building self-understanding and confidence. Sessions are available online for students across California, and my goal is to make therapy a supportive space where you can be heard and find balance.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to support people in a wide range of settings, including inpatient and outpatient treatment centers, residential programs, and homeless shelters. These experiences have allowed me to work closely with individuals facing many different challenges and life circumstances. Working across these environments has helped me develop a flexible, compassionate approach to care. I’ve learned how to meet people where they are—whether they’re in crisis, navigating major life transitions, or working toward long-term healing and stability. My background has shaped my ability to provide thoughtful, personalized support that is grounded in real-world experience and a deep understanding of the complexities people face. I specialize in general mental health, anxiety/depression, substance abuse, and Christian centered psychotherapy. Therapy is a space for growth through trust, curiosity, and reflection. I use humor, metaphor, and insight to guide exploration with compassion, seeing vulnerability not as weakness but as fertile ground for healing, self-awareness, and resilience. Together, we'll explore root causes and develop a practical plan for change. Many notice symptom relief within weeks and continue to make steady progress, gaining a stronger sense of control and connection in their lives. Together, we'll explore your unique path toward well-being.
You’ve been holding it together the best you can, but you are tired. Exhausted from the constant worry, waiting for the next shoe to drop, and never feeling like you’re enough. Sleepless nights, self criticism, and gripping anxiety may make sense given everything you’ve been through, but you are ready to find some relief and start caring for yourself as much as you care for those around you. I help women and teen girls feel confident that they can handle what life throws their way, to feel empowered to honor their needs and boundaries, and to overcome the past to find new patterns of relating to themselves and others. Together we can compassionately untangle what it is that gets in the way of living the life you long for and reconnect to a more easeful, connected, and authentic way of being in the world. I specialize in supporting survivors of trauma, caregivers, and social and environmental justice activists seeking sustainable involvement in movements for change. Schedule a free consultation with me (online booking available through my website) to start shifting the patterns that keep you from feeling calm, confident, and connected to your life.
