In my work as a therapist, I've supported people from diverse sociocultural backgrounds, with a wide range of mental health challenges and lived experiences. I aim to provide a therapeutic environment that is non-judgemental and collaborative. My clinical style is to lead with warmth, humor, and curiosity. I value direct and open communication so that clients can have space to be themselves and keep it real. I draw from multiple evidence-based treatments, most often integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy strategies to increase effective coping responses to life challenges. It's my goal to build an authentic and trusting relationship with each individual so we can together engage in conversation that will promote insight and growth leading to movement in a personally meaningful direction. I'm a therapist with Octave and Evernorth Behavioral Care Group. Octave is a mental health practice providing high-quality care covered by multiple insurances. Evernorth Behavioral Care Group is a behavioral health provider group in-network with Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth. For my availability, please reach out to Octave’s team by emailing or calling.

The world is in upheaval but I believe in the common thread of humanity and I think acknowledging the agency we have over our own lives is one of the most important tasks we all share right now which we often need help with. Most of us have found ourselves vulnerable to the anguish of uncertainty in our lives, and it is my privilege as a therapist to help others work on living more directed, conscious & meaningful lives. My role as a therapist is to facilitate a safe space that embraces vulnerability and is accountable, honest, and authentic. I encourage feedback while embracing a non-judgmental approach, and believe in the power of the therapeutic alliance to affect deep and abiding change. My intention is to humbly hold a safe space for my clients and to utilize the skills, education, and training I have to offer them alternative ways of assessing, defining, and managing the various challenges in their lives. I believe in the lived experiences of my clients and make an effort to build trust in open and non-intrusive ways. I am a proponent of seeking self-regulation through nature and enjoy spending time outside to find balance in my daily life. This aligns with my therapeutic approach, which recognizes the profound impact of the environment on mental well-being and utilizes grounding techniques inspired by the natural world to help reduce stress, depression, and anxiety.

In more recent years, my practice has expanded due to high demand for treating trauma, depression and anxiety related issues. I started my career working with at risk probation youth in residential placement. It was then I knew the future was in our children’s hands. I dove deeper into the world of community mental health with the goal of helping our youth and their families overcome life burdens that led to dysfunctional behaviors in the communities. I worked collaboratively with the Department of Mental Health, The Department of Child and Family Services, Los Angeles County Probation Department, and non-profit organizations for over 15 years. Throughout the years, I have trained extensively in childhood and adolescent social-emotional development and parent/child relational issues. I have also specialized in helping adolescent, adults, and families cope with generational trauma and its impact on their current functioning. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is comprehensive approach that addresses the physiological storage of memory and how it informs our experiences. EMDR is a widely researched model that has been proven to resolve an individual’s most severe and deeply rooted disturbances. My main objective is to build a strong rapport with all my clients. I believe a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship is the foundation of any successful treatment plan. I am committed to creating a safe and comfortable environment where you will feel confident in exploring and processing how to overcome life barriers and achieve ultimate fulfillment. I look forward to meeting you!

I am passionate about healing and deeply committed to helping you cultivate a sense of inner freedom, safety, wholeness, and connection with yourself. I view challenging emotions and experiences as powerful portals for self-exploration, healing, and growth and it’s my joy and privilege to help you navigate them. I bring warmth, curiosity, openness, compassion, and deep trust to my work with clients. Through thoughtful inquiry, consistent engagement, and a focus on your needs, I strive to cultivate a safe and supportive environment where true growth and self-discovery can flourish. I welcome all of you into the session including parts that hurt or can be hard to be with alone and really work to support you in navigating these parts in a non-judgmental and compassionate way. I see therapy as a collaborative journey, where we work together to craft a plan with strategies to help you meet your goals and navigate the complex territory of being human. I believe in the transformative power of therapy, not just for the individual, but also for the relationships and communities we touch and show up for differently by choosing to heal and grow. I’m a big believer in making space for joy, connection, and beauty in our lives as ways to resource ourselves. I find this a lot in nature and am an avid hiker and lover of national parks.

People usually come to therapy because they want to feel better. Anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship problems, substance abuse/addiction, losing a loved one, work difficulties (to name a few) and life in general, can be very challenging and overwhelming at times. It is important to seek medical assistance for physical problems when we are not well; therefore, it is also just as important to seek emotional/mental assistance when needed. People who are willing to work on their issues by discovering, uncovering, and discarding what is not serving them emotionally and/or mentally, will be able to function better in their lives. I believe in always ""keeping it real"" with my clients. My ultimate goal is to help them begin a holistic journey of emotional, mental, and spiritual soundness. Each client is different and therapy isn't ""one size fits all."" I always strive to create an environment of safety, non-judgement, and healing! Seeking therapy takes a lot of courage! You have taken the first step to letting go of something that is holding you back in your life. It's going to be uncomfortable at times but in order to make a change, you have to take a risk!

Marc is a seasoned clinician who uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in his work with clients. CBT focuses on exploring relationships among a person's thoughts, feelings and behaviors. During CBT Marc actively works with clients to uncover unhealthy patterns of thought and how they may be causing self-destructive behaviors and beliefs. By addressing these patterns, the client and Marc work together to develop constructive ways of thinking that will produce healthier behaviors and beliefs. For instance, CBT can help clients replace thoughts that lead to low self-esteem ("I can't do anything right") with positive expectations ("I can do this most of the time, based on my prior experiences"). The core principles of CBT are identifying negative or false beliefs and testing or restructuring them. Oftentimes clients being treated with CBT will have homework in between sessions where they practice replacing negative thoughts with more realistic thoughts based on prior experiences or record their negative thoughts in a journal. Studies of CBT have shown it to be an effective treatment for a wide variety of mental illnesses, including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and schizophrenia. Individuals who undergo CBT show changes in brain activity, suggesting that this therapy actually improves your brain functioning as well. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has a considerable amount of scientific data supporting its use.

I’ve always had a deep interest in understanding people and their experiences. I was often the friend or family member that people would turn to for support, over time, I realized that I wanted to do more than just offer advice—I wanted to truly guide people on their personal journeys toward healing and growth. I was inspired by the idea of providing a safe space for people to explore their thoughts and feelings, and the idea that through therapy, people can find clarity, strength, and lasting change. I believe the most important thing is creating a space where you feel comfortable sharing openly. I listen closely to your words, but also pay attention to the emotions and body language that might not be as obvious. I want to really understand your perspective—what you’re going through, how you’re feeling, and what you need. My goal is for you to feel that you’re not just being listened to, but truly understood in a way that’s supportive and non-judgmental. Everyone’s experience is unique, so I try to adapt my approach to what works best for you, ensuring that you always feel seen and valued throughout our work together. Working together is a process, and it’s built on open communication, respect, and collaboration. I believe trust is something that grows over time, and I’m committed to creating a space where you feel comfortable and supported every step of the way. Trust is something I prioritize, and that comes from being consistent, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I’ll always meet you where you’re at, and we’ll work together to set a pace and approach that feels right for you.

I am also trained in Biblical Counseling to provide Christian based therapy. This is an area of special interest in my practice and the framework from which I draw personal and professional perspective. I help individuals explore and identify their personal belief systems to understand how this might be a significant resource in their own experience. Apart from everything else, a good rapport between client and psychotherapist is essential for therapy to be effective. I believe the level of personal comfort and ease clients have in my office are key elements to the success of therapy. I make every effort to create a secure and trusting environment for my clients. My undergraduate focus was in math and science. However, through the years I decided that relationships were more important and realized that most individuals don't have the tools to form good marriage, family, and friendship connections. Much of this is the result of poor parenting that leaves an individual fearful, without confidence, and having no idea how to navigate life's challenges. Children are precious and deserve to feel loved and secure. This is difficult if their parents weren't nurtured and shown how (primarily by example) to have a loving marriage. We deserve love in marriage, and our children need that example. My graduate studies at the University of Southern California were in sociology (sex and gender focus) and marriage and family therapy. I have years of experience in parenting, responding to domestic violence, treating pornography addiction, and helping clients who are depressed and/or anxious.

I help people struggling with life transitions, problems at school or work, depression, anxiety, anger, relationships, and drug or alcohol use. I really enjoy working with clients that want to improve coping skills, self-esteem, and overall want to work towards self-improvement. I value personal growth and self-reflection, which is why I strongly believe in the power of counseling. I have helped many people with identifying the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how we can use those connections for positive change. Additionally, a big part of my approach involves improving mood regulation, interpersonal skills, and mindfulness. I try to focus on the present and future, to help clients keep moving forward.
