Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
I am a licensed clinical social worker who has been providing individual psychotherapy to adolescents and adults for the past 20 years. My therapeutic style can be described as interactive, empathetic, nonjudgmental and gently challenging. I believe that the relationship between the therapist and client is essential to positive, healthy change. It is often the relationship with a supportive and skilled therapist that allows people to talk about and explore issues/struggles that feel too difficult to explore on their own. Because therapy is such a unique and personal journey, therapy is centered on you and your unique needs as we work together to build on your strengths, focus on solutions and develop new skills and insights, to help you achieve the personal growth you are seeking.
I have over 10 years of experience working with hundreds of college-age clients from all walks of life. With my background as both a special education teacher and college and career counselor, I enjoy helping clients explore their identity, increase self-confidence and autonomy, and overcome fears (or whatever else is blocking them from living well). As a therapist, most of the clients I see experience OCD, anxiety, and neurodivergence. I tailor treatment to my clients’ individual needs and create a warm, supportive environment in sessions where they can truly be themselves without judgment.
As a therapist, I offer insight-oriented therapy, which includes deep self-reflection, exploration of your hopes and goals, and artistic exploration. My practice focuses on attachment work, which helps people to strengthen their connection with their truth and authenticity. Being true to ourselves leads to greater self-worth, intuition, empathy, and better relationships. We can more confidently pursue our passions and purpose, and be more clear on our next steps in life. Young adults often see me to address the transition to college or graduation from college. Others are dealing with difficult family dynamics, including situations where their identities or life choices are not accepted or respected by family members. Some are seeking guidance as they develop their professional identity and consider their life trajectory. Others are healing from trauma, including sexual assault or abuse. The tools I draw on when working with young adults include talk therapy and EMDR—and I also find mediums like sand tray and art therapy to be useful. I offer sessions in-office or nature-based. I strongly value creating a compassionate and non-judgmental setting where we can work together to address your challenges and build a more enjoyable and meaningful life. I use evidence-based treatments to address a wide range of problems including anxiety disorders and stress management, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders (ex: OCD, skin picking, hair pulling), PTSD, mood disorders (ex: depression, bipolar disorder), and insomnia. My treatment approach explores the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and incorporates mindfulness and acceptance techniques to help make lasting changes in your everyday life. I find that this approach adds to my clients’ understanding of themselves and helps them develop greater self-compassion and empowerment in the face of their difficulties. Give me a call so we can discuss what you're looking for and whether we might be a good fit!
I work with the body and the nervous system to integrate difficult experiences and regulate ourselves from the bottom up. I love to work with the inner critic (aka self-criticism), the inner child (aka reactivity), and trauma (big and small). I am passionate about helping people get to know themselves, not just find a quick fix for symptoms.
I partner with clients to navigate life transitions, addressing challenges such as grief, loss, and anxiety. As an adept practitioner of EMDR therapy, I employ an eclectic and mindful approach to help individuals overcome trauma and align their lives with their values. Specializing as a relationship expert, I offer guidance to individuals and couples, focusing on enhancing communication skills and nurturing secure functioning relationships. Committed to LGBTQIA+ support, I maintain a sex-positive and body-positive stance, recognizing the transformative and healing potential inherent in each individual.
I have 30 years of working with adolescents and young adults. My approach to therapy is founded in the value of the therapeutic relationship. It is very important my clients feel heard and validated with a sense of security as they explore their experiences of both suffering and success. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidenced based psychotherapy treatment to help improve communication with others, reduce fears and phobias, interrupt thoughts that lead to addictive or other self-destructive behaviors, improve self esteem and change negative thought patterns. I have extensive experience working with diverse populations in psychiatric hospitals, treatment programs, the criminal justice system, young adult transitional programs, family systems and private practice.
I specialize in working with young adults and helping them navigate these tough and challenging years. I have a holistic approach to psychiatry and am flexible to meet people’s individual needs. Anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and depression are my areas of expertise but I treat everything.

I am multi-lingual licensed psychotherapist in private practice specializing in trauma and the emotional and somatic impact of violence on the individual and communities - whether it’s racially or gender-charged violence or the destruction of our planet - grief, anxiety, trauma, shame, feelings of despair and anger are all part of it. As faculty of the International Center for Mental Health & Human Rights, I have facilitated contemplative based trauma and resiliency trainings locally and internationally to communities on the frontlines. In my work with you, I pay attention to how constructs such as power, race, gender, socio-economics, and sociopolitical environments impact the individual, family, and community identity, well-being, and health. Traumatic experiences happen within a social context and are shaped by social and climate-related conditions. Tailoring my approach according to your concerns, challenges, and unique socio-cultural background feels essential in our work together. I have been working with adults and adolescents in the mental health and education field since 2005. I graduated from the California Institute for Integral Studies with a Master’s Degree in Integral Counseling Psychology and hold a Social Work degree from Hochschule Niederrhein in Germany. I offer individual and group psychotherapy in my office in Boulder, CO. As a psychotherapist, I take an integrative approach that includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, neuroscience, climate-awareness, social justice, and contemplative-based trauma and resiliency training. My work predominantly focuses on survivors of traumatic experiences as well as challenges related to shame, self-esteem, racial and multicultural identities, and climate distress. As a climate-aware psychotherapist, certified in climate psychology and member of the North America Climate Psychology Alliance, I am passionate about understanding the immediate mental health impacts of climate related disasters and long term stressors of living with the reality of climate change over time. I believe that learning emotional resiliency skills with ways of motivating effective action and creating intentional moments of reconnection with the earth and all her inhabitants, feel essential to the wellbeing of our world. I speak English, Spanish and German fluently.
