Life is challenging and confusing, especially during a time like right now. Given the pandemic, many of us are attempting to find normalcy in an extremely abnormal situation. Everyday life has become even more stressful, it's harder to be in relationship, and finding moments of "okay" might be few and far between. Having your own space to talk about your experiences, whether dealing with the present situation or managing old wounds, is not only important but beneficial for maintaining our mental health. I work with adolescents, young adults and adults on a variety of issues. Primarily, I help clients by bringing attention to the storylines we have created (and will continue to create) about ourselves that cause pain, distress, and disconnection. These stories might look like: I am not [fill in the blank] enough; I should be happier/more successful/less afraid; I am unworthy of love; I can't manage life on life's terms; I’m an outsider. Uncovering these storylines and reframing them is the beginning to living a different life, one that feels, well frankly, better.

Challenges are essential to growth. We all face challenges. The various challenges, crises, traumas we all inevitably encounter can create anxiety, depression, and disconnection. Unfortunately, labels and diagnoses can stop you from seeing that you are okay. As you are. Your felt experiences of hurt, when processed deeply, actually lead to self-discovery. Seeking help doesn’t mean that anything is necessarily wrong. In fact, expertise can guide you through these moments safely. Through somatic healing therapy, individuals and couples will find inner strength to start anew. I am a somatic therapist who counsels individuals and couples to honor who they truly are. Together, we explore new ways to cope with conflicts, and the challenges presented in day-to-day life. Bring all of yourself to therapy. You’ll create better relationships with yourself and others as a result. So, get comfortable. Let’s find what brings you joy and helps you feel fulfilled. Break through. Ultimately, this process is about loving and becoming more of yourself.

I am a sex-positive, polyamory-affirming, and kink-informed therapist. I draw from an eclectic knowledge base that includes queer theory, disability justice, anti-racism, intersectionality, and fat liberation. My clinical perspective is influenced by attachment theory, humanistic theory, and systems theory. I have been trained in many evidence-based modalities, such as ACT, CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, and others. I do not believe that anyone can truly provide therapy from an objective lens and welcome your questions about how my training and lived experience inform the way we interact. I approach therapy from a relational, strengths-based, and person-centered lens. This means I will tailor our therapeutic work to your specific goals and strengths, allowing you to lead as the expert of your own experiences. I do not incorporate any particular structure into sessions and allow you to guide us to what feels relevant to you in the moment. My clients meet with me at all types of frequencies from twice weekly to once a month. This depends on the intensity of your mental health challenges, my current openings, and your processing style.

Through my professional experiences, I have found a love for working with younger adult clients and currently work with many undergraduate and graduate college student. I enjoy my work in helping to identify what isn't working for clients in their individual lives or in their relationships and finding alternative ways of thinking and responding that support mental wellness. My experience is is mostly in the areas of symptoms commonly experienced by those struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD. I work mainly with cognitive models of therapy and am trained in EMDR, and have experience with other theories of psychology that I interweave into my practice, depending on what clients needs are and what they respond positively to. Hello. I am Dr. Rhoda Lipscomb and I am a certified sex therapist and coach who specializes in alternative means of sexual expression. I work with those who need help with issues of AB/DL, BDSM, kink, fetishes, open relationships (swinging, polyamory, designer) as well as issues of anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transition, and stress reduction. I have 30 years experience in the field of mental health counseling and have been in private practice for 16 years. I provide all services virtually using video conferencing. While I provide psychotherapy to those within the state of CO, I also offer mental health and sexuality coaching for those in other states. Many college aged adults can benefit from working with someone who specializes in sexuality, however most sex therapists and coaches in private practice charge rates that are difficult for college students to afford. I have made my fees on Thriving Campus much lower than my usual rate so it can be more accessible for young adults in college who are struggling with sexual issues as well as anxiety, self-esteem and life transition.
