Making the decision to begin your therapeutic journey can feel overwhelming. My goal is to create a safe environment for you to grow and explore the things that have been holding you back. This could be feelings of anxiety, trauma, communication issues, difficulty establishing boundaries, toxic relationships with family or friends, or a major change in your life that has left you feeling confused or lost. Our work together will include identifying triggers and patterns of behavior, as well as recognizing roadblocks and reframing negative thoughts. I have some specialty areas including trauma, adoption, foster care, LGBTQIA, anxiety, relationships, parenting, and divorce. I've been trained in Training for Adoption Competency with C.A.S.E., EMDR, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other modalities. I emphasize collaboration in my sessions and provide a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere. I would be happy to discuss if I am the right person to work with you. Reaching out can be a difficult, but important step. Starting counseling takes a lot of courage and I commend you for beginning your search for a counselor by visiting this page. Please reach out with any questions you may have, I am happy to help!

Viktor Frankl said "When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves." I find building healthy client/therapist relationships very satisfying. I enjoy working with clients who are open to growth. I am the mother of 3 young adult daughters. I am active in my profession by serving on the Board of Directors as President for 2018-19 as well as 3 prior terms as Western District Chair, for The Licensed Professional Counselors Association of GA (LPCA-GA). I am Certified as a Clinical Supervisor by LPCA-GA. I work with all sorts of populations, but I particularly feel that my strengths lie in working with young adults, adults, women, teens, pre-teens, parenting issues, anxiety, substance abuse, trauma and anyone going through a challenging life transition or existential crisis. I am Certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional through IATP. More details available on my website. I love being a Psychotherapist because I have the honor of hearing my clients stories. Each day I learn something new from clients and I hope that they are learning from me as well. Every day I am amazed at the strength and courage my clients have shown in their lives and I am honored at being invited into those stories and asked for guidance and clarity. Visit my web site at: www.csosolutions.net where you will find more detailed information and an online scheduler for making appointments.

Are you feeling anxious! I can give you a good understanding of neuroscience, how your brain works, and techniques so that you can better manage your anxiety. I enjoy helping college students gain a better understanding of how thoughts and experiences influence emotions and so I will provide you with practical feedback on your own thoughts/emotions to guide you in reaching your goals. I offer therapy with or without a Christian perspective. Your choice. No judgement from me, only support and encouragement to help you manage your difficulties.

Photo of Sara Pelaez
Sara Pelaez
Counselor
Alpharetta, GA

Sara Pelaez is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Professional practicing in Georgia, Illinois, and Florida. She works with individuals and couples with a focus on students. Many of her clients have found great success in their personal and college lives, but struggle to feel connected in their relationships or at peace in their daily lives. Sara is particularly sensitive to clients facing present-past trauma, moments of transition, relationship or emotional issues when the delicate balance can seem to tremble, and symptoms of anxiety, depression, and self-doubt can emerge. Sara’s approach is rooted in EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Emotional Focus Therapy. These are evidence-based approaches that focus on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected so that they can begin to make a targeted change. It is a bottom-up/top-down approach that provides a 360 view of the client's inner world. She works to help clients understand their physical response to external stressors, and begin to problem-solve ways to introduce moments of calm, to choose to respond rather than react in the face of change. Sara is focused on ensuring that her clients see real progress: her style is interactive, non-judgmental, and positions clients as the experts on where they are now, and where they want to go. A trauma-informed therapist, Sara is sensitive to the influence of past experiences on present challenges and works closely with clients to reframe the narrative of their life in a way that increases self-confidence and compassion. Sara’s first priority in starting with a new client is ensuring that they feel safe, heard, and like an equal partner in the therapeutic process. As a seasoned telehealth provider, she offers the convenience of remote sessions to help make therapy a core component of your self-care calendar.

Many of the students I work with share something in common: they’re trying to juggle a lot at once. Between classes, assignments, work, relationships, and figuring out their future, life can feel overwhelming. Some struggle with stress and anxiety, others with low motivation, mood changes, or difficulty focusing. And many feel like they have to hold it all together on their own. In our work together, I provide a supportive space where you don’t have to have all the answers. My goal is to help you sort through what feels heavy, build tools to manage stress, and find balance so you can feel more like yourself again. You don’t need to know all the “right words” or have it figured out before you start—we’ll work together to make sense of what you’re going through. If you’re a student who feels stuck, overwhelmed, or just ready for extra support, this is a place where you can be honest, breathe easier, and move forward at your own pace.

Life can be difficult to maneuver. As multifaceted individuals we often carry a little weight in every one of our realms. These weights can be a result of the specific “trauma points” that we’ve held on to as our perspective has grown over time. Those points look like family conflict, life transitions, career stress, relational/personal redevelopment or many other reasons for why we may have crossed paths here today. Overall, how we engage with those points affects our relationship with healing. Whether we recognize it or not, we all could have used guidance through a period of suffering. Every doubt is an opportunity for growth. “As you start to walk along the way, the way appears…” Trusting the journey by learning through our opportunities for growth can align us with our highest possible outcomes. To do that, I use a few types of therapy such as EMDR, CBT, Solutions-Focused & Strength-Based learning techniques to help encourage an atmosphere where growth is focused & intentional. It could be helpful to remember that the journey is the process. As we learn ourselves through guided introspection we can gain insight into patterns that contribute to our daily habits. You are exactly where you’re supposed to be. My intention is to meet you where you are, with respects to your journey. I look forward to walking along the way with you.

Photo of Tiffany P. Brooks
Tiffany P. Brooks
Pre-Licensed Professional
Calhoun, GA

Tiffany specializes in working with adolescents and young adults. She values helping clients with all aspects of their identity (i.e. race, sexuality, career, faith, social support, etc) and, of course, most mental health diagnoses. Her theoretical approach works to intertwine person-centered and cognitive-behavioral therapies, with a feminist and liberation psychology emphasis. She prioritizes connecting with clients relationally to allow room for clients to be the expert on their experience, including their personality, strengths, and value systems. Additionally, with cognitive-behavioral therapy, it is her belief that thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all interconnected and that by managing to change one, it is likely that the others will follow suit. Her emphasis on feminist and liberation psychology perspectives allows for an exploration of how systemic issues (i.e., mass incarceration or employment laws) are affecting a client’s presenting problems. Tiffany believes in utilizing empowerment to allow for the client to explore the various ways they have power over aspects of their life and the larger community they can change. Because of her background in providing Child-Centered Play therapy, she has found the power in integrating expressive methods (i.e., art or journaling) into her clinical work to go beyond relying upon only traditional talk therapy.
