Hi, I’m Molly Johnson and I’m a licensed therapist in both Massachusetts and Minnesota. I’m passionate about helping people heal, deepen their insight, and become more skillful in how they live their life. While I previously offered in-person therapy, I now work exclusively through virtual sessions. Many clients begin with some hesitation, but soon find that virtual therapy feels just as connected and supportive as being in the room together. My therapeutic approach draws from DBT, CBT, and other evidence-based practices, but at the heart of my work is a genuine listening ear, attentive presence and someone who is cheering you on!

If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or unsure where you fit in, I can help. I use combination of therapeutic approaches depending your needs. As a therapist who likes to get results, I can help you define and meet your goals. In most case, I have found cognitive behavioral therapy to be a very effective tool. In addition to teaching specific skills and techniques, I offer support and empathy so that you feel fully understood and accepted. Time and time again, I have seen that when you gain insight and understand the valid origins of your beliefs and behaviors, you can make healthier choices.

I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW). My passion and focus is working with late adolescents and adults to navigate a wide range of issues including, work and school transitions, body image and food related matters, family conflict, depression, anxiety and general life stressors. My patients describe me as warm, direct and engaged. Finding a provider you're comfortable with can be an overwhelming process. I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation and typically recommend spending a few sessions to see if we work well together.
I became a therapist to provide support and affirmation to folks with systemically oppressed identities (e.g., trans and queer folks, ADHDers, kinksters, chronically ill/disabled folks, POC, cis women). I am dedicated to working with individuals facing interpersonal, life, and identity-related challenges, such as navigating gender roles and emerging adulthood (college and grad students welcome!). I collaborate with clients on a variety of concerns, such as anxiety, relationships/dating, boundaries, difference in views/beliefs from family of origin, and imposter syndrome. In my work, I use approaches such as Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients. I like to mix in gentleness, deep exploration, celebration, and the occasional “dad joke” to our work. My clients tell me this approach makes them feel truly heard, learn to advocate for themselves, and move toward their values. I believe that you deserve frank, warm support and to not be handled with kid gloves (or the dreaded, overly soothing “therapist voice”). If you want to invite me onto your therapy journey, I’d be thrilled to hear from you. I offer a free, 15 minute consultation to discuss what you hope to gain from therapy and to tell you more about what I can offer you. My Background and Approach I am devoted to building genuine, nourishing connections with my clients. My graduate training focused on providing multiculturally affirming therapy to people of a variety of backgrounds and intersecting identities. I also trained in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to aid clients in achieving their therapeutic goals. I have specialized training in working with members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and the young adult population, both in university and community health settings. Last, I bring my lived experience as a Queer, White, chronically ill, genderqueer being to my work with clients. I own my privilege and discuss, as it arises, power dynamics that may occur between us due to our identities, beliefs, and experiences. I believe these conversations are critical for full honesty and trust in your mental health journey.
Hello and Welcome! My focus is in treating graduate students. I strive to create a safe, collaborative environment for the exploration of self and relationships, stress management strategies, multicultural issues, adjustment to the university environment, as well as the healing of past traumas and family of origin struggles. I have been in university counseling since 2004. I use a combination of psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral techniques, Internal Family Systems approaches, as well as mind-body stress reduction.

Offering telehealth sessions! I believe we are all naturally inclined toward personal growth and success—each of us with our own strengths, desires, and goals that would lead us in the direction of contentment and happiness under optimal conditions. Problems arise because we don’t live in a perfect world, and in an effort to adapt, we sometimes develop strategies that make sense in the short term, but are not effective in moving us forward. We “get stuck,” leading to anxiety, frustration, and conflict, which leads in turn to us feeling bad about ourselves and our relationships. I view therapy as a collaboration between me and my clients, where we work together to understand the root causes of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that get in the way of resolving problems. Together, we will clarify your goals, uncover and capitalize on existing strengths, and develop new ways of working through difficulties. My style, which is both directive and supportive, honest and compassionate, works to build the trusting relationship that will be key to our work together. My approach is integrative, eclectic, and flexible: we'll start wherever you are and go from there. The first step is the hardest, but you're not alone in the journey. Give me a call and we'll get you on your way!
During therapy, I believe the most important thing is to view people through their unique lens of life experiences and for me to be fully attuned to you. I invite you to engage with me within a safe holding environment in which I can help you get unstuck and gain freedom to fulfill your personal goals and to resolve any blocks/fears or stressors that are holding you back from a fulfilled life.
