I look forward to working with people who are ready to make changes in their lives and engage in the therapeutic process. Much of my sessions include discussing goal setting and thinking of various tools and techniques to achieve those goals. I utilize CBT methods, person-centered, and strengths-based approaches to help all clients realize their ability for change and understand they can achieve happiness and alleviate things like anxiety and depression.
I think it is extremely courageous to admit we need help. I believe one of the most important criteria for successful treatment is to have a trusting, open, "therapeutic rapport" with a client. Without trust and a good connection, the therapeutic process cannot begin. With that in mind, I believe the first step is creating an environment safe from judgement and rich in support. My focus is to enable clients to acquire insight, skills, and motivation for emotional, cognitive, and behavioral transitions.I specialize in older adolescent and adult individual therapy as well as family and couples counseling. I assist clients in developing healthier coping and inter-personal skills that address topics related to: assertiveness, anger management, parenting strategies, managing mood disorders (anxiety and depression), impulse control, PTSD (EMDR), life transitions, grief, conflict resolution, mindfulness, sexuality, and stress management. I am a big proponent in assisting clients built self-confidence. I also have a degree in Accounting as well that I use with individuals and couples around money management, budgeting, savings, and retirement planning. I also have experience as a business consultant for individuals.
Accepting new patients.....It is through therapy that we come to understand how our experiences make our lives meaningful. Choosing a therapist isn't an easy task; I hope sharing my perspective helps. Over the last decade I have worked at universities, elementary schools, rehabilitation centers and group homes with children and adults from 7-70. These experiences have shown me that the right environment activates our innate capacity to mature and thrive. Therapy is not about "fixing" someone, it's about creating a space that supports growth. My approach embraces the power of personality to facilitate change. Through active listening, I acknowledge the impact of personal experiences and encourage exploration. Like exercising - regular, creative dialogue yields new strengths and abilities. In this way, individuals find their own solutions that are often more personalized than CBT. As you search for a therapist, consider me - I think you'll find me accessible, pragmatic, and insightful.
In my counseling work I provide psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups. My clients include people struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. My relational and existential approach helps me understand and connect with my clients. I believe that the intent of therapy is exchanging "symptoms" for "coping skills." To accomplish this transformation, we need to understand our past to shed light on who we are in the present, where we have the power to focus on present issues and make changes that will influence our future. I see psychotherapy as a learning process. I bring my knowledge and understanding of psychological phenomena to bear on my client's life experiences. Psychotherapy is not an easy process, but I work to meet you, the client, where you are and to create safe space to explore and grow. In addition to psychotherapy work, I'm an adjunct faculty at Lesley University, where I teach Introduction to Psychology and Child Psychology. I have completed my psychoanalysis fellowship with the IPE, which is affiliated with the New York University School of Medicine. I'm also a certified Cognitive Behavioral group therapist.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who works with individuals 13yo+ and offers individual and family therapy. In addition to my private practice, I spent the last eight years working at acute care programs at McLean Hospital with adolescents and their parents, supervised pre- and postdoctoral trainees, and carried an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School. I actively participate in sessions by asking questions and collaborating with you in order to help you achieve your goals. My patients utilize sessions in various ways, such as processing the challenges they are facing and stressful aspects of their lives, working on developing insight into relationship patterns, learning more effective methods of coping, eliciting feedback to communicate their needs more effectively to their supports, better understanding and learning to more effectively manage the intensity of their emotions, exploring various facets of their identity, processing shame and factors impacting their self-esteem, finding ways to live more consistently by their values, and better understanding and/or changing unhelpful behaviors or patterns. I integrate evidence-based treatment interventions, as needed and in a flexible way, to empower you to reduce the impact of your symptoms. I respect that everyone's goals and needs in therapy are different so I am happy to work with you short-term for skills-based work or to work through a time-limited issue, or on an ongoing, longer-term basis. My patients have described me as curious, compassionate, funny, validating, and thoughtful, as well as direct when needed. I am a clinical psychologist with 15 years’ experience working with clients in a variety of settings and presenting with a wide range of diagnoses and concerns including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance abuse, workplace issues, relationship issues, perinatal mood disorders, parent child attachment difficulties, and parenting challenges. I have worked with children, adolescents, college students and adults. one of my practice areas focuses on providing therapy to college and graduate students. While this can be an exciting and inspiring time, there are many factors (identity issues, social anxiety, academic pressures, relationship problems, ect) that can also make it a challenging time to navigate. I use my clinical experience in college settings and in private practice to help college students process feelings and develop coping skills so they can feel more competent and confident. My years of experience has taught me that the fit between a therapist and the client is a significant factor in whether a client feels their therapy is helpful. I use my intuition to tailor my therapeutic approach to each individual client so that we both feel that we are moving forward in a way that feels supportive and productive.
