Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
Most of my clients are from BI&POC or LGBTQIA+ communities. I strive to create an unconditionally affirming and accepting therapeutic space where you can feel comfortable to explore whatever you need to in order to heal and find your path to liberation. I work diligently to equalize the power dynamics within the therapeutic relationship, and I strive to act more as a collaborator that works with clients to identify their strengths, values, and beliefs. I utilize a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive/decolonization framework to support clients in their journeys toward growth, authenticity, empowerment, and self-acceptance. I recognize the significant effects that organizational structures and cultural contexts can have on the health and wellbeing of individuals, and also how these structures can negatively impact our perception of ourselves. In addition to my work with general mental health, I am also a sex therapist and sexuality educator. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and kink/BDSM/poly friendly. Ready to unf#ck your nervous system? Let’s be completely real, you can’t think your way out of a survival response. If analyzing your childhood or making endless coping-skill lists worked, you wouldn't be reading this right now. Numbing out, doom-scrolling, or pushing through the exhaustion makes complete sense, until it doesn't.I don't do standard talk therapy. I don't sit silently while you vent for 50 minutes just to tell you to breathe. At The Unfiltered Couch Counseling, we go straight to the root, in your body. When you are stuck in constant survival mode, chronic illness flares up, burnout takes over, and your brain feels constantly foggy. Using specialized somatic approaches like Brainspotting, EMDR, and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), we target where stress and trauma are physically trapped in your nervous system. We clear out the heavy, physical weight in your chest and stomach so your body finally gets the memo that the danger is over.If you are ready for raw honesty, deep somatic shifts, and a therapist who actually curses back, you’re in the right place. Let's get your system back online.

I work with diverse populations and tend to take a biological/behavioral approach to wellness and mental health. I have a history of working in the college setting as a therapist for a period of approximately seven years and thus I am familiar with the needs and special circumstances of the college-aged population.

I was a psychiatrist prior to immigrating to the United States in 2001. I currently work as rehabilitation counselor, case manager for people with disabilities and also work as a mental health counselor independently. I am a good listener and passionate about each individual's life journey, self-identity, acculturation, relationship and career path. When we sit down to listen, learn and share different perspectives, we unlock entirely new ways of seeing ourselves. Stress never goes away, but we can adjust how to react toward stress, build resilience for ourselves and healthy relationships with others.
