Hi, I’m Kiara, I’m the therapist behind Lunar Counseling! I work with teens and adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, and trauma. Too many people are stuck in a cycle of distress without truly resolving anything. This leaves many feeling detached, numb, and uncertain about their future. I believe most mental health challenges can be addressed through effective therapy and by developing healthy coping skills. BUT, that can be so hard to do on your own. I have found for many individuals, having a therapist to talk through issues can be a gamechanger for their mental health. So, I use my seven years of therapy experience to guide people just like you as you work through your mental health challenges and regain control of your life. To get started, your next step is to schedule a 15-min phone consultation to see if we are a good fit. You don’t have to let things get worse or stay feeling numb and overwhelmed. I can help guide you as you overcome your challenges and get back to feeling like yourself again.

I am so glad you are here. When you come to your first therapy appointment, you’ll question yourself if its worth it. You know you need to address these issues you’re having. I know I felt the same. Therapy offers many different experiences, You will feel better just hearing your thoughts out loud. Our relationship is a key driver to your success, I value you and work every session to offer you space to reflect, understand, and provide hope. You can get in balance. Getting yourself back is within your abilities. You will set the pace. I will guide and walk beside you. We will do this together. I will approach each session with curiosity about your story. My job is to create a space that allows you to feel safe and secure, while we reflect and understand your vulnerabilities. We will help give you some new perspective and some more life tools to help you from having multiple bad days in a row. We will have moments of tears and joy. We will have moments of celebration and triumph. I am fully committed to opening new pathways that feel more tolerable. I believe in doing more of what’s working. College life can be exciting and rewarding, but it can also bring new pressures, responsibilities, relationships, and challenges that can feel overwhelming. Adjusting to academic demands, navigating friendships and relationships, living away from home, managing expectations, and taking care of your mental health can sometimes feel like a lot to handle. I work with college students experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, mood concerns, trauma-related difficulties, relationship and social challenges, and the emotional stresses that often accompany major life transitions. Sometimes students know exactly what is wrong; other times, they simply know that they don't feel like themselves or that something is making it difficult to function at their best. My approach combines psychiatric medication management with psychotherapy and supportive counseling. I believe treatment should be individualized and collaborative, taking into account not only symptoms, but also the whole person and the circumstances affecting their mental health. Together, we can explore what you are experiencing, identify patterns that may be contributing to your difficulties, and develop practical strategies to help you feel more balanced and in control. I strive to provide a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where students feel comfortable being honest about what they are experiencing. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, feel more grounded, and develop the tools and support you need to navigate college and life with greater confidence.

College is full of transitions, like moving away from home and support systems, navigating relationships while balancing academic stress, and entering the professional world after graduation. These transitions can be exciting, but also daunting and overwhelming! So whether you are just starting to explore ways to improve your mental wellbeing or have been struggling for many years, you don't have to navigate it alone. My approach to therapy is always rooted in empathy, compassion, and a genuine curiosity about your unique experiences. We will work together using evidence-based practices to strengthen coping skills for the symptoms you most wish to address. Once these symptoms feel more manageable, we can then identify treatment goals that are built around understanding the impact of your past experiences, current obstacles, and hopes for the future (even if you don't know what those are yet!). I have provided individual therapy for seven years, and am especially passionate about helping those with neurodivergence (whether formally diagnosed or not) make sense of historical struggles through a non-judgmental, self-compassionate lens. Everyone can benefit from having a safe and supportive space to tackle symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, life stressors, self-esteem issues, or any other mental health difficulties. I welcome an opportunity to speak with you about your therapy goals and to see if we are a good fit, so please reach out to me via email, or phone (texts are okay too)!

Hello! I'm Erika (they/them/theirs), and I am passionate about helping adults with ADHD move from feeling stuck, ashamed, and discouraged, to curious and engaged with life. I use a combination of Internal Family Systems (IFS), ADHD Coaching, and embodied creative practices (rooted in my training as a Dance/Movement Therapist), based on the needs of each client. These tools help us to untangle deeply rooted patterns, and build systems that you enjoy and that help you succeed. Additionally, I love supporting people who are neurodivergent and exploring or struggling with their gender identity or sexuality.

I have a decade-plus history of helping individuals experiencing issues ranging from general anxiety to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. These patients can vary from people who have experienced acute traumatic events, suffered from health-related problems, dealt with adverse childhoods, or are struggling with the problems of everyday life. My training allows me to tailor my approach to the individual whether I am working with a young person navigating life transitions or an adult who has experienced a traumatic event. I am as comfortable reviewing CBT coping skills as I am guiding individuals on ways to regain trust and meaning.

One of the main components of therapy is to provide a safe environment for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings. My office offers teletherapy play sessions with children and is also easily transformed into a space comfortable for adolescents, adults, and couples. For more than 10 years, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults with behavioral and emotional challenges. My professional experience consists of working in a variety of settings including: in-home therapy, outpatient, and group practice. My clinical areas of specialty include: anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and trauma. I utilize a broad range of evidence-based modalities to help assist clients through their journey to mental wellness. These treatment modalities include: person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), child development, and play therapy. I believe therapy is a highly individualized and a personal experience. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults and couples. I offer phone coaching in between sessions. I return EVERY call and email.
