Therapists for college students near University of Pennsylvania
I believe that having an objective person listen to your story opens the door for validation, reflection, and change. I believe my job as a counselor is to listen, notice patterns, and help you reach the goals you set for yourself. I use an eclectic blend of modalities to center the people I work with in their own narratives, and help them move forward in ways that benefit them the most. I also have a lot of experience working with athletes, as I was a coach for 10 years before becoming a counselor. Please visit my website to see more about my coaching experience and work with athletes on performance and wellness. I enjoy being a generalized clinician, as I focus a lot on validation, control, and purpose in my practice. I find this can help each person, no matter what they are facing, to find a more positive path forward.

Whether you are living in physical pain or emotional pain, we will work together to help you sleep better, decrease pain, improve relationships, get "unstuck" and feel happier. One of our greatest goals as clinicians is treating you with the support and care you deserve. We not only want to help you feel better, we want to help you live better and move out of negative patterns of behavior that do not serve you. We work from an integrative perspective, meaning that we have been trained in a wide variety of psychological techniques and will combine them to help you achieve your goals. We will teach you to use the tools that help you most, so that you can continue to work with these techniques on your own, once you have completed therapy. And that sense of independence and control you gain over your own life, that will feel truly fulfilling!
Hi and welcome! My name is Rhonda Matlack and I have been a Licensed Counselor since 1998. Counseling historically has been something that society has been ashamed of hence many people have suffered needlessly due to lack of support. I'm here to tell you that seeking support and moving toward emotional wellness is deserving of every individual from any walk of life. It is my philosophy that those who reach out for heIp, those that take the risk to be better, those that face their fears will have a sustainable life pattern of coping that leads to wellness. We are all made unique, each one of us is made to serve and benefit in this life with a purpose. Last, I believe healthcare should be made affordable to all, therefore I have a very low sliding scale to offer folks. Get in touch to learn more.
I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology and hold credentials as both a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). I have been in the field a little over 10 years and have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns; including depression, anxiety, identity formation, crisis management, addiction, and life transitions. My counseling style is very person-first and engaging. I believe in incorporating different therapeutic techniques in order to meet you exactly where you are during each interaction. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, person-centered, and solution-focused techniques. My goal is to have you feel comfortable and help guide you to develop healthy skills that encourage empowerment and self-discovery. Outside of my career, I am an animal lover that enjoys traveling. I enjoy being physically active and believe the best gifts are those you can experience! I am a fan of all Italian food and find comfort relaxing while watching a good movie or reading a thrilling book. I strongly advocate the concept of self-care and overall life balance. I understand how vulnerable and overwhelming it can feel to seek counseling and I appreciate the courage my clients display by doing so. I hope to support and provide encouragement as we begin this process together. I believe that every individual has the ability to overcome struggles and learn how to highlight their strengths that they may not even be aware they have! I look forward to working with you! From our founder: I wanted to take a moment to share something deeply personal and meaningful to me. At 23, I faced an unimaginable loss when I lost my mother to alcohol addiction. It was a painful journey that led me to struggle with my own mental health for nearly a decade. During that time, I often searched for a purpose and a way to turn my pain into something positive. Today, I’m proud to announce that I’ve opened this mental health practice. We are building a team of incredible clinicians, each of whom shares a commitment to help others navigate difficult times and find hope and healing. Our goal is to create a safe space where people can feel understood, supported, and empowered on their journey to wellness. We’re here to save lives and help individuals reclaim their strength. Hi! I'm Grace, a white, queer, disabled, cis-woman. I believes that therapy is an intuitive and collaborative process. I view my work as a privilege, and believe that the therapeutic relationship is built over time. I hope to co-create a space of mutual growth with you, exploring pathways of healing, connection, and meaning. I bring humor, compassion, and support to the therapy space. I truly believe that we heal through our relationships with others, ourselves, and the world - and hope to provide safety and containment for folx exploring relational or attachment trauma, and/or those living with chronic illness and disability. Other areas of speciality include queerness and identity formation, anxiety and depression, disordered eating and body image, and life transitions.
I see teens and adults via telehealth and am licensed in NJ, PA, FL, and VT. Specialties include Anxiety, Depression, School Issues, Food Allergy Anxiety, Parenting, Peer Relationships, and Stress.
As a relational, attachment-based therapist, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a powerful vehicle for change. As a systemic therapist, I also believe that the systems you’re part of matter, and that your experience can’t be understood outside of those systems. You may have had the experience of “getting” something on a logical level, yet finding that knowledge to be inadequate or insufficient. I believe real change has to be felt, not just rationalized. So I focus on creating a relationship where it’s safe to take relational risks and have new experiences that create change on a deeper level. Within the relationship, the work can take many forms. We may start by looking into your past, as I believe the past is important in understanding the present, and that it’s useful for helping you understand your attachment style and relational patterns. And if you’re one of the many neurodivergent people who have experienced trauma, we can draw on Internal Family Systems/parts work and Emotion-Focused Therapy to help heal your younger self. My goal is to always meet you where you are, and sometimes that might mean taking a more practical, skills-based approach. This could mean developing strategies to manage overwhelm, big emotions, and struggles with organization, time-blindness and prioritization. For example, you may be feeling like you know what you need to do yet still can’t get it done. Here I also draw on my background as an ADHD coach, and use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Internal Family Systems to help you understand the emotions that may be getting in your way, see the different parts that create internal conflicts for you, and change how you relate to these parts.
Therapy can be a place to slow down and make sense of what’s been shaping you - especially when familiar ways of coping no longer feel helpful. People often come to therapy during periods of change, relational stress, or when old patterns start to feel heavy or confusing. You don’t need to have clear answers to begin; therapy offers space to reflect, understand yourself more deeply, and decide how you want to move forward. My approach is grounded in understanding how family dynamics, culture, identity, and broader social systems shape how we see ourselves and relate to others. As a queer Palestinian- American woman, I bring lived experience and clinical training into my work and strive to offer care that is thoughtful, affirming, and nonjudgmental. In therapy, we will move at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we may look back at the experiences and relationships that have shaped you, while also building clarity, self-trust, and support in the present. Sessions can be challenging at times, and I offer a steady, compassionate presence as you work toward lasting change. I invite you to reach out.
Welcome! Your courage to work towards a better you is commendable. When starting out in therapy, our focus will be on developing a therapeutic relationship based on trust. I approach sessions with empathy and compassion in a nonjudgmental space where you may ask yourself, "What do I want from this experience?" I can support you through addressing current/past hurt and be present with you as emotions come up. I will be with you as you explore the internalized narratives that influence your functioning and wellbeing. I believe therapy should be an empowering process, in which your strengths are highlighted. I consider multicultural systems and identities in my framework for treating adolescent and adult clients within the contexts that matter most to them. I have specialized interests in serving college and graduate students; multiracial/multiethnic identifying clients; clients who identify as racial minorities; LGBTQIA+ clients and women. Prior to transitioning to private practice, I worked as a counselor at Immaculata University's Counseling Center. During my time there, I supported students in navigating the college experience and its nuances. This included, but was not limited to, supporting students experiencing homesickness; supporting first generation college students; supporting students' challenges with perfectionism; supporting students navigating identity development; supporting students of color in navigating a predominantly white campus; supporting students with time management; supporting neurodivergent students; supporting seniors in navigating anxiety around graduation etc.
