Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
I offer trauma-informed virtual therapy for individuals navigating brain injury, concussion, chronic illness, and complex trauma. I founded this practice to bring both rare clinical expertise and lived understanding to every session. My services include individual therapy, EMDR, and care coordination, all drawing from evidence-based modalities tailored to the unpredictable nature of brain injury recovery. I support clients in processing grief, identity shifts, medical trauma, and the invisible burdens that come with conditions others can't see. I'm currently accepting clients in Connecticut and Colorado.

LET’S BE HONEST: Existing between worlds is exhausting. Co-existing in multiple worlds and cultures doesn’t come with a roadmap. The competing demands and expectations leave you feeling tugged in opposing directions, and you’re left with the feeling that no matter how hard you try, you’ll never be enough for anyone. Even though there are many people in your life, it feels like nobody from any ‘side’ really gets you, and you’re not sure where you truly belong. You’re tired of facing microaggressions when you’re out and about and obstacles to advancing at work. All this is impacting your relationship, where you’re struggling to communicate and feel a sense of togetherness across the divides.

I work best with students who may look capable on the outside but feel overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or exhausted underneath. Many of my clients are neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, coping with trauma, struggling with perfectionism or intrusive thoughts, or trying to navigate major life transitions. My approach is warm, direct, and practical. I help clients better understand what is happening, build skills that fit their lives, and make meaningful changes without expecting them to become someone they are not.
Anxiety doesn't have to run your life. You can find joy again. On the surface, things are still looking great. You appear to “have it all”, but, on the inside, things are falling apart. You feel stressed, overwhelmed and out of control. It doesn’t have to be like this, and I can show you another way. I help driven people just like you manage their anxiety, stress and irritable bowel syndrome. You can gain stability and finally enjoy your success. If you are ready to do the hard work of changing your life, I’d love to talk to you.
I love working with college students and young adults, helping them identify their values, where they're getting stuck, and how to go after the things they want. I specialize in working with adults with anxiety disorders including Generalized Anxiety, OCD, Social Anxiety, Panic attacks, and specific fears. I help clients overcome their anxiety by approaching, rather than avoiding, their anxiety and anxiety-provoking situations, learning tools and gaining confidence along the way. This can sound scary at first, but the more you do it, the easier it gets.
Transformation and healing can be an empowering and a beautiful process. I focus on educating, encouraging, and empowering clients to make positive decisions in their lives. The results of these positive decisions can help clients move closer to realizing their values and goals. I am compassionate, caring, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I accept and embrace differences among each person, and I am committed to helping others achieve their goals to the best of my ability. I provide cognitive and behavioral therapies as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in my sessions. I have been working in the mental health field for 18 years in all levels of care with various populations. I received my Doctor in Psychology (PsyD) degree in 2019 at California Southern University. I attended University of Colorado in Colorado Springs to obtain my Master's degree in Community Counseling in 2009. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Elementary Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2015. “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” - Maya Angelou

College is like a pressure cooker of compounding transitions. On top of demanding coursework, you are likely navigating the intense world of identity exploration. This can mean a lot of things; from the deeply personal layers of discovering your sexual orientation and gender identity, to simply figuring out who you are as an individual and what you actually want out of romantic and sexual relationships. As a queer therapist, I intimately understand the unique difficulties of navigating these shifts. I have walked this path myself, personally navigating profound changes in my own sexual orientation and gender identity, and I know how isolating it can feel to explore these core parts of yourself while trying to maintain your GPA. It is incredibly common to feel stuck in a major or career track that feels entirely wrong, paralyzed by the fear of starting over. I know that panic firsthand. I spent years working as a software developer before a season of deep introspection and counseling gave me the courage to make a massive pivot. Today, I am in a field I love deeply; one that brings me genuine passion far beyond a paycheck. If you are feeling misaligned with your current path, I offer specialized career counseling to help you cut through the external expectations, decode your true strengths, and confidently identify a professional field that actually fits your authentic self. Whether you are drowning in academic stress, untangling painful relationship patterns, processing trauma, or facing a complete directional pivot, you do not have to figure it out alone. Together, we will address the practical mechanics of stress management while diving deep into the relational dynamics that keep you stuck. I provide an encouraging, explicitly inclusive, and safe space where no topic is too messy or taboo. Your college years can feel incredibly destabilizing, but our work together will help you build the self-trust and clarity needed to step out of survival mode and into a life that is genuinely, authentically your own.
Everyone deserves the chance to be well and enjoy life! Throughout our lifetimes, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationships, work, and health challenge us all. I would be honored to assist you in your healing process and partner with you on any issue(s) that may be contributing to emotional and/or social pain. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who focuses on treating the whole person. I specialize in assisting individuals on issues related to substance abuse, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationships. I use knowledge of embodiment/somatic meditation, cognitive inquiry, neurobiology, self-compassion, and general wellness in my practice. My therapeutic style involves providing support and feedback in a safe and empathetic space. I approach therapy in a client-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed way. I hope for our sessions to be simply conversations, as you are the expert on your life. Everyone has a story, and I look forward to joining you on your journey towards growth.
Are you struggling with depression or anxiety? Are you feeling overwhelmed with life transitions and school stress? I would love to help you! Welcome. My name is Nicole. I am a Colorado native, runner, dog mom, and therapist. My passion is for working with clients as they navigate relationships and patterns of behavior that interfere with their enjoyment of life. I prefer when I can meet with my clients in person but understand that counseling needs to be accessible and convenient for you to be invested, so I make sure that telehealth is an option, as well. I specialize in working with trauma, attachment wounding, and mood disorders. Please take a few minutes to visit my website. I'd love to chat to see if I can be a good fit for your therapy needs.
I specialize in supporting teens, women, and LGBTQIA+ individuals navigating depression, anxiety, identity exploration, and trauma. In our first few sessions we will explore how you move through the world and establish goals for therapy together based on your unique experiences and strengths. I offer both online and in-person sessions at West Wind Counseling. I am trained in evidence based counseling practices, trauma-informed mindfulness, DBT, traumatology, and am working toward EMDR certification. I also use somatic based interventions and parts work in sessions. Ask me about climbing therapy, which offers a unique way to explore how we navigate challenges, build resilience, and practice mindfulness!
