Using a client-centered approach in an accepting and caring environment, I enjoy working with those who experience issues from trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, women's issues, and life transitional issues, such as marriage, separation, and divorce. We can work together to develop your individual goals to reach your greatest potential of well-being. I utilize the most current evidence based treatments in my practice to promote healing of the body and mind. I would love to meet with you to see if I would be a good fit for your needs! I received EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training in 2016 and have been an EMDR certified therapist since 2018 and have been trained to utilize ego states and cognitive interweaves, flash technique, and other evidence based strategies within EMDR. I also utilize a client-centered approach with various treatment modalities in addition to EMDR to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Relaxation and Stress Management Techniques, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Memory Reconsolidation in Trauma Therapy. I would love to meet with you to see if I would be a good fit for your needs!

I believe that my clients, no matter their age, are the experts of themselves and believe in playing a supportive role in my clients' transformation toward restoration, self-empowerment, and healing. I have come to see how incredibly courageous and resilient individuals can be and find it to be a blessing and a privilege to be able to do the work that I do. I have specialized in treating survivors of abuse and trauma and received certifications to provide Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Treatment and work with survivors of violence, trauma, and torture, and currently working toward a certification in EMDR. I also enjoy working with individuals and families dealing with a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, family systems issues and conflicts, difficulty with adjustments, grief and loss, and acculturation issues. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral, EMDR, and Narrative Therapy, as well as creative and play therapy techniques. I am devoted to the field of counseling and helping people from all walks of life and circumstances and am honored to be invited into the lives of so many individuals. In addition, I am able to assist both English and Korean speaking clients.
I specialize in working with queer and neurodivergent clients, including those with no formal diagnosis, particularly autistic people, individuals with ADHD, and couples with mixed neurotypes. I am interested in exploring embodiment, somatic interventions, expressive arts, and pleasure activism with clients. I work with a variety of needs, such as navigating non-traditional relationship structures, anxiety, depression, self-actualization, low desire, identity development, and dysphoria, and the way grief can interplay with these needs. I facilitate these explorations through a humanistic, feminist, and systems-oriented lens. My area of focus is trauma-informed sex therapy. I hope to support clients as they defang shame and center joy and pleasure in their lives. I have four years of experience working with survivors of sexual trauma and a lifetime of working with queer people; in addition, I am kink-aware, polyamory-positive and -informed, pro-sex work, and organizer-friendly.

Hello! My name is Jessica Hallman and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. Many of us go throughout life having to be different versions of ourselves, whether that’s being different versions at work, with friends or with family. We get into this mode where we compartmentalize, hide ourselves and our experiences for various reasons which can include shame, pain, anxiety, anger, or fear of not being accepted. This often leaves us feeling lost, tired, unfulfilled, or unhappy. Whether you are experiencing symptoms related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, problems with relationships, or a general sense of disconnectedness, I will work alongside you to promote inner healing, self discovery, and acceptance while allowing you to feel fully seen. I’m committed to creating a space that is safe, supportive, and non-judgmental where you can gently put down the “mask” and bring your whole self. I believe in having an individualized approach to meeting your needs. With the use of Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, and Solution Focused Therapy, I will support you in gaining strength and finding joy. My belief is that we are each uniquely the captains of our own lives and at times, just need a new or different perspective on how to navigate our experiences. Let’s partner together, with you leading the way at your own pace (mask off), and begin the process of restoring your inner peace.

There is a part of me that feels extremely anxious. There is a part of me that gets really sad and down at times. There is a part of part of me that can hardly get out of bed some days. There is a part of me that needs to take care of everyone and everything. There is a part of me that wants to check out and escape from all the responsibilities I have. There is a part of me that thinks about dying and a part of me that wants to live. There is a part of me that …. How many times have we all had these feelings or thoughts that come over us that seem conflicting at times but represent how we are feeling in the moment. Understanding our parts even those that are contradictory, being able to validate and accept our parts, and creating balance and space for our parts mentally can be attained through therapy. Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) is designed to allow us to heal from our pain, hurt, and fears by managing the parts that have been created out of our traumas. We have all experienced trauma in some form, and we all have parts that have been borne from those traumas. Parts that help us manage our daily lives and parts that may tend to disrupt our lives, but all of these parts are valid and serve some self-protective purpose and can be managed once they are understood. Everyone experiences wounds in life, be it loss, illness, abuse, a difficult relationship, neglect, or any other overwhelming issue. Sometimes even experiences that "should" bring joy like graduating, starting a new job, marriage, or having children can render us feeling like we are in crisis - or stuck. We work with clients to help them get unstuck from feelings of anxiety, depression, and emotional reactivity. When we can identify the patterns that keep us in pain, we can begin to develop new ways to cope and manage the stress of our lives.

I graduated from The University of Georgia in 2011 with my masters in counseling; I worked as a staff therapist, suicide prevention coordinator, and disability services coordinator at Georgia Southern University and East Georgia State College respectively before going into private practice. I'm passionate about helping college students as they juggle demands and make major relationship and career decisions - it is a unique and overwhelming stage of life. I'm located near Charleston where I'm offering sessions via telehealth to GA & SC residents. Counseling can help improve communication between loved ones, support individuals adjusting to major life transitions, or develop coping skills to better manage emotions that have become distressing. I'm grateful you had the courage to explore counseling. Life is stressful at times and we can all use a safe place to receive support and feedback. It is my belief that each person has inherent value, and my goal is to encourage individuals to see their worth and facilitate them in making decisions they can reflect on with peace.
