Therapists for college students near 78741
I am particularly interested in, and trained for, working with clients who are struggling with or are in recovery from eating disorders. I have extensive experience working with adults (18 and older) who have co-occurring diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, and trauma. I also find fulfillment in supporting people who are navigating life transitions: tackling the college experience, embarking on a new career, becoming a parent, empty-nesting, or encountering a less-expected transition such as grief or a relationship ending. It is common for people who have had an eating disorder or who are currently struggling with one, to find that transitions challenge their recovery process with increased stress. Counseling may be especially helpful during that time. The most important component of effective therapy is providing a therapeutic relationship built on warmth, empathy, genuineness, unconditional regard and trust. Using a “Health at Every Size” (HAES®) philosophy I draw from several different therapeutic techniques to tailor my approach to your unique needs. My primary goal is to help you understand how your presenting concerns developed and what is perpetuating them. I then support you in accepting or making changes that align with your values and goals. I offer a free initial phone call during which time you and I can explore together if I'm a good fit to help you reach your goals. I'm happy to answer any questions you have about therapy and help you feel ready to begin this process. You're welcome to send me an email with any questions you may have!

My approach integrates evidence-based techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Gottman, Christian Counseling and Family Systems Therapy. I believe in the power of resilience. Life's challenges may leave us feeling lost and overwhelmed, but with guidance and support, we can navigate the depths and rediscover our strength.

Araceli is trained in both Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET), evidence-based approaches that help people better understand and work with chronic conditions such as chronic (unexplained) pain, anxiety, migraines, dizziness/vertigo, IBS, tinnitus, fatigue, brain fog and other stress-related symptoms. These therapies help patients relate to symptoms in a new way—by reducing fear, strengthening the mind-body connection, processing difficult emotions, and helping the brain “unlearn” the patterns that keep symptoms stuck. Araceli’s work focuses on supporting individuals living with chronic conditions to feel safer in their bodies, more emotionally connected, and more empowered in their healing.
I work with young adults who feel disconnected from themselves and others, struggling with feelings of loneliness, self-doubt, or the sense that something is missing in their lives. If you’re struggling to understand who you are or how to connect with the people and things that matter most to you, I’m here to help. Many of my clients have experienced childhood trauma or challenging family dynamics, which can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, and isolation. This is your journey, and I’m here to listen without judgment. As we uncover what’s causing you pain or confusion, I’ll offer tools and skills in a collaborative way to help you manage overwhelming emotions, establish healthy boundaries, and build better communication. If anxiety, depression, or relationship struggles have left you feeling stuck, I offer a supportive space for you to heal and grow. You deserve to be understood and empowered to live life on your terms. Let’s work together to help you create authentic connections, reclaim your sense of self, and find peace in your relationships.

Life has a way of exhausting us, especially when it feels like we’re chasing standards no one could possibly meet. I know this struggle deeply. Like so many of us, I’ve juggled work, relationships and other obligations while forgetting to take care of myself. I know what it feels like to carry heavy expectations—as a woman of color and a child of an immigrant, I’ve often felt the weight of needing to be strong, capable, and successful all at once. I specialize in helping clients navigate anxiety and depression, and overcome the challenges of life transitions. As a new mother, I have expanded my skills in supporting perinatal individuals as well.
