Life can be hard. I get it. Especially when trying to balance the already difficult challenges of daily life and trying to be successful in higher education at the same time. Anxiety, family conflict, relationship problems, imposter syndrome, and other common problems are understandable concerns with everything today’s college student have to deal with. Adjustment to college by itself can be challenging, be it undergrad or even grad school. I believe I can help… I have a very down-to-earth, non-judgmental style and like to think that I am easy to talk to. I have over 20 years of experience in Mental Health and Higher Education. Therapeutically, I use an integrative approach that draws heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Systems Theory, and is influenced by social justice frameworks. Professionally my interests include racially marginalized students, developmental concerns, family of origin concerns, relationship concerns, stress/anxiety induced academic performance issues, men’s issues, and imposter syndrome/sense of belonging. Outside of work, I consider myself a “Blerd”. I’m a serious movie/cinema buff. I’m also a fan of all things Comics and Sci-Fi/fantasy. I enjoy community service and cultural events. (Note: I can not accept current Emory University Students)

Licensed Professional Counselor
Atlanta, GA

Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 11 years of experience in outpatient mental health, crisis response, and program management. I specialize in providing individual, group, couples, and family counseling, integrating evidence-based, trauma-informed, and client-centered approaches. I have extensive experience leading multidisciplinary teams, conducting comprehensive assessments, and coordinating care across community and clinical settings. Recognized for improving client outcomes and building strong partnerships, I am committed to expanding access to quality mental health services and supporting diverse populations with compassion and expertise. In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and building a foundation of trust. I’ll ask questions to learn about your concerns, history, and goals for therapy, and I’ll also give you space to share what feels most important to you. Together, we’ll begin to create a plan that feels manageable and tailored to your needs. My goal is for you to leave the session feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the path ahead. One of my greatest strengths is my integrative approach—I draw from evidence-based methods like CBT, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness while tailoring each session to fit the unique needs of my clients. I’m skilled at creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel truly heard and understood, while also helping them develop practical tools they can use in daily life. Clients often share that my balance of compassion, encouragement, and direct guidance helps them make meaningful progress and lasting change.

I came to this field out of a lifetime of curiosity about others and myself. My hope is to help channel your own curiosity and facilitate a journey of self-discovery, understanding, and renewed hope. The grief that comes from loss or change isn’t something to “get over” or “heal” from. Instead, I see grief as an experience that evolves and matures as we learn to adapt to our new reality and integrate these difficult changes into life after loss. None of us are exempt from experiencing grief, mourning, or large life changes. I’ve been there. That’s why I hope you will feel safe bringing me along on your journey. When I am not counseling, I am probably out there dealing with this messy life just like you, training for my next half marathon, at a yoga class or spending time with my family and friends. They would tell you I’m a great listener, caring, and empathetic. They might also share my penchant for bad puns and that I spend an inordinate amount of time planning my next meal. You might also want to know that I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (License # CSW003949) who received her MSW from the Smith College School for Social Work in 2004 and received a BA in Psychology from the University of Vermont. I have worked in various care settings including Inpatient, Outpatient and Managed Care. I have experience treating individuals and couples with a range of issues including eating disorders, marital issues and grief. I offer free 15 minute consultations. Follow the link to my secure patient portal to schedule yours.

Let’s be real — asking for help feels hard. We’ve been taught that being the “strong one” means doing it all alone. That needing support somehow makes us weak, messy, or not put-together enough. Whether it’s from family, culture, or social media… the pressure to look like you’ve got it all figured out is exhausting. But here’s the truth: asking for help is a power move. It means you’re self-aware enough to know when something's off — and brave enough to do something about it. Healing doesn’t make you broken. It makes you real. It makes you whole. As your therapist, I’m not here to “fix” you — I’m here to help you find yourself again. Together, we’ll unpack what’s been heavy, rewire some patterns, and create space for you to breathe, grow, and show up as her — the version of you that’s confident, grounded, emotionally free, and fully in her power. Struggling with anxiety or overthinking? Tired of toxic relationships or feeling like you’re never enough? Burning out trying to keep it all together? It’s time to choose you. Not the perfect version. Not the polished mask. The real you — in progress, healing, and glowing. Let’s do the inner work, set the boundaries, and walk in purpose. Because the goal isn’t perfection. It’s progress.

During our sessions together, I will support you in exploring the many parts of you and how they came to be. I will work with you to identify the negative messages connected to these parts of you. We will form a relationship with these parts and create a safe place for all of you to be seen, heard, and understood. In this safe place, you will heal yourself. Developing my own internal resources has helped me to move through some very difficult times as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Using evidence based research, I provide care that values every part of you and respects where you came from. In those moments of pain and struggle and self-discovery, I will help you to choose yourself. I seek to create a safe and inclusive space for black-bodied individuals, first generation immigrants, LGBTQ+ folks, survivors of trauma, sex workers, and clients who are struggling with relationship and intimacy issues. My approach to mental health care is rooted in anti-oppressive and decolonizing frameworks. The treatment modalities that I use have been found to be effective across many cultures, ages, genders, and experiences. I am here to support my clients in rediscovering themselves, strengthening their mind-body connection, and living the life they have always wanted.

I work with anxiety and or depression triggered by single event trauma or complex trauma over time- trauma being any distressing situation where we feel helpless and powerless- These effects can create enduring shadows that stretch across our lives. Disconnected from ourselves and others, and detached from those we want to attach, we begin to think we are that disconnection itself, and it is too painful to be with ourselves or feel our feelings. We end up living in an unbalanced, reactive state of anxiety-or stuck in a freeze state of depression or shut-down. Wounding causes us to live from a defended and limited place of grief and anxieties, seeking any way to avoid and relieve pain. Therapy is the reparative process of healing in relationship and again living from our true authentic self with adaptability, resilience, and creativity. We work together to rebalance the nervous system, increase your ability to be embodied and be in relationship, and experience more completeness, joy, and connection. Work with me to regain your sense of self and feelings of connectedness and empowerment.

Clinical Social Work/Therapist
Atlanta, GA

Hi! I'm Rosie (she/her). I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of both Georgia and Texas. I work primarily with young adults (20s and 30s), and many of my clients are people who identify as LGBTQIA+. I have special focus in trauma processing, ADHD management, and career exploration. Throughout my social work career I have passionately advocated for racial, social and economic justice through the empowerment of individuals and groups including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, people with HIV, people experiencing homelessness, people with mental illness, people with disabilities, veterans, children and youth, and more. As a queer and neurodivergent therapist myself, I am mindful of how people’s identities factor into their experience of the world and their experience in therapy. I believe that people begin to heal the moment they feel heard. While I do incorporate interventions like CBT, EMDR, IFS, and distress tolerance, my first and foremost focus is to be unconditionally on your team and on your side. Past clients have told me that I am a natural listener and am genuine and warm in how I relate to people. When I am not obsessing over the personality psychology phenomenon known as the enneagram, I enjoy laying in the sun with a good podcast, jogging the Atlanta beltline, reading, cooking, yoga, and exploring the local food scene.

Treatment Philosophy We are a counseling practice and professional team that believes in developing personal, caring relationships with our clients. Time after time, clinical studies have proven that success in counseling isn’t about theory or techniques. It’s about relationships. Specifically, the relationship between you and your clinician. We strive to make counseling a uniquely helpful and positive experience. A one size fits all approach doesn’t work. If people are individuals, shouldn’t counseling be individualized? We will work together to construct an approach that fits your needs and create an experience that helps you achieve progress. Our treatment philosophy values a strength-based outlook. In other words, while we’ll carefully consider your issues and concerns, we’ll also spend a considerable amount of time leveraging what you do well and how to build on those strengths using scientifically supported counseling techniques. Counseling doesn’t have to be a long, drawn out process to be helpful. Sometimes all it takes is a small step in the right direction for you to move forward in your life. For more information on individual counseling, couples counseling, marriage counseling, career counseling, and psychological testing, please click here. What Makes Us Different? Client care is our highest priority and it shows in everything we do. We offer direct care and support from start to finish. You’ll have a real conversation to help determine which therapist will be the ideal match for yourself or your family’s needs. From that point on you’ll schedule directly with your therapist. You will always be cared for by a licensed professional. We are a treatment team. We regularly consult with each other on cases so that you’ll have the benefit of the combined wisdom and expertise of all of our staff working closely together to create the best possible outcomes for you. Please know that we hold ourselves to the highest standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Your personal information is safe with us and stays within the confines of Focus Forward practice. Have you ever wondered whether your therapist has a job, a career, or a calling? We are a group of clinicians who are fueled by callings. We are passionate about our work and never forget the privilege we have to be able to help others. We are a values driven practice. We don’t just stick a mission statement on a plaque and ignore it. Our Mission and Core Values guide every decision we make. Mission Statement Provide outstanding clinical services in our community through compassionate, creative, accepting, and ethical relationships. Focus Forward Core Values 1. Do good. 2. Integrity counts – do the right thing every time and be true in your words and deeds. 3. Follow through on commitments to clients and colleagues. 4. Ask great questions, learn, innovate, and share. 5. Pursue excellence – go above and beyond in delivering service. 6. Bring fun and energy. 7. Pitch in and look for opportunities to help clients and colleagues. 8. Promote active, responsive engagement with clients, colleagues, and community partners.

I believe that everyone deserves to be seen as a whole, complex person—not just defined by their past. In therapy, it’s important to me that clients feel fully understood and respected for who they are in all their layers. I'm really passionate about exploring the different parts of my clients' identities and how the world around them shapes their experiences. I take an approach that blends attachment, mindfulness, and cultural awareness. I truly believe that our childhood and adolescent experiences can give us important clues about our present behaviors and patterns. I also think that trauma can be passed down from generation to generation, both physically and mentally, and it’s something that often shows up in our lives in unexpected ways. I have a deep compassion for victims and survivors of emotional, physical, financial, sexual, and verbal abuse. I’m a strong advocate for raising awareness about intimate partner violence and unhealthy relationships. I work with clients to heal from their trauma, set healthy boundaries, and speak up for themselves. I want all my clients to feel empowered during their entire therapy journey, and I put a lot of importance on honoring their autonomy. I believe that healing isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it’s my job to create a space where each person can find their own path to healing. I also love bringing in multicultural and diverse healing approaches. I offer a space where clients can bring their spiritual or religious beliefs into therapy if they choose. Creativity plays a big role in healing for me—whether it’s through visual arts, performing arts, writing, storytelling, music, or just being in nature. I think meditation can come in all sorts of forms, and I encourage clients to find what works for them. I’m certified in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), and I have experience in suicide prevention and intervention. I have specific, advanced training in Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), which is the gold standard for treating OCD. Outside of work, you can find me junk journaling or scrapbooking, doing yoga, styling clothes, or dancing around. I received both my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Agnes Scott College.

I love working with motivated individuals who are striving to reduce anxiety, move past overwhelm, and bring balance back into their lives. I can help you get to the root of what's bothering you and teach you tools to move forward with your life and goals. I specialize in working with adults and caregivers affected by cancer or chronic illness. I also work with adult adoptees curious about or pursuing search and reunion.
