Do you struggle with just being yourself these days? Well, kick off your shoes, relax, put up your feet, let's get real and talk. Many people see therapy as a never ending cycle of therapists sitting with a notepad repeating, "How does that make you feel?". I can assure therapy with me is never a cliche. I know how easy it is to feel alone and always asking why me. Some days it's easy to feel trapped looking for the fastest escape. Others you want to burst into tears or moments you feel like you're making all the wrong choices. I can understand if you need a break and want to scream. I'm here to help. Let's explore those issues you may be struggling with together and take back control of your life.
As a neurdivergent therapist with ADHD, I understand feeling a little different—creative, scattered, sensitive, or like you don’t quite fit into the usual boxes. I want to help you to feel more grounded, to understand yourself better, & to move through life with more ease and confidence. In therapy, we’ll work together to make sense of what’s been overwhelming you, reconnect with your strengths, & create space for balance, meaning, and self-acceptance in your daily life. In our sessions, you can expect warmth, curiosity, and collaboration. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine conversation.

Treatment Philosophy We are a counseling practice and professional team that believes in developing personal, caring relationships with our clients. Time after time, clinical studies have proven that success in counseling isn’t about theory or techniques. It’s about relationships. Specifically, the relationship between you and your clinician. We strive to make counseling a uniquely helpful and positive experience. A one size fits all approach doesn’t work. If people are individuals, shouldn’t counseling be individualized? We will work together to construct an approach that fits your needs and create an experience that helps you achieve progress. Our treatment philosophy values a strength-based outlook. In other words, while we’ll carefully consider your issues and concerns, we’ll also spend a considerable amount of time leveraging what you do well and how to build on those strengths using scientifically supported counseling techniques. Counseling doesn’t have to be a long, drawn out process to be helpful. Sometimes all it takes is a small step in the right direction for you to move forward in your life. For more information on individual counseling, couples counseling, marriage counseling, career counseling, and psychological testing, please click here. What Makes Us Different? Client care is our highest priority and it shows in everything we do. We offer direct care and support from start to finish. You’ll have a real conversation to help determine which therapist will be the ideal match for yourself or your family’s needs. From that point on you’ll schedule directly with your therapist. You will always be cared for by a licensed professional. We are a treatment team. We regularly consult with each other on cases so that you’ll have the benefit of the combined wisdom and expertise of all of our staff working closely together to create the best possible outcomes for you. Please know that we hold ourselves to the highest standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Your personal information is safe with us and stays within the confines of Focus Forward practice. Have you ever wondered whether your therapist has a job, a career, or a calling? We are a group of clinicians who are fueled by callings. We are passionate about our work and never forget the privilege we have to be able to help others. We are a values driven practice. We don’t just stick a mission statement on a plaque and ignore it. Our Mission and Core Values guide every decision we make. Mission Statement Provide outstanding clinical services in our community through compassionate, creative, accepting, and ethical relationships. Focus Forward Core Values 1. Do good. 2. Integrity counts – do the right thing every time and be true in your words and deeds. 3. Follow through on commitments to clients and colleagues. 4. I love working with people who think they may have lost the plot. Who wonder if their symptoms may be a natural reaction to our society and our utter disconnection....from everything. I see you, and I get it. I think there is more to a life well-lived than mainstream notions of success. Come explore your life through values exploration and honest self-assessment, whether short or long-term. Welcoming and affirming for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC. I have an eclectic approach, which is a fancy way of saying that I don't rely on any one way of approaching curiosities. But my starting point is always from a place of your strengths, the things you are doing well, and your unique interests/wants/needs. I trend toward elements from Acceptance and Commitment, Positive Psychology, Existentialism, Brief Solution- Focused, Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Activation, Radical Acceptance, and Mindfulness. I am progressive in my politics, non-religious, and I believe that cursing is a valid form of self-expression. Humor is a big part of how I communicate and I believe it can get us through a lot of things. Despite being a middle-aged white woman who grew up in the south, you will find no bigoted mindset here. I will never pretend to understand the totality of your experience, but I do promise to see you, hear you, and respect you, while being mindful of the systemic, familial, and cultural issues that may be impacting you. I have stopped taking insurance because of all the barriers it creates from its medical model of viewing functionality and need. I know this creates a financial barrier for some, but I believe that until the system changes, its more of a detriment overall. But lets check those out-of-network benefits and see what we can squeeze out of the insurance company for you :)
